Homestudy Update #3

Hi Everyone!

Our social worker came this evening for our update visit. The visit was very uneventful and lasted about 20 minutes! She basically came to pick up the paperwork. She and her family were one their way out of town for the weekend. I really like the quick visits! :>)

My sister Lisa came to help me today get ready for the visit. We had a great time together! I treated her to Chinese take-out for lunch (the boys wanted Burger King!) and we worked on the tough chores like dusting kitchen cabinets, making sure ALL the laundry was done, packing up some yard sale stuff, etc. We also worked on general cleaning stuff as well. I am so tired! It was a great day!

My favorite part was when we were finished, we hugged and cried. It was a big love-fest! Both Lisa and my younger sister Robyn are so excited about having a new niece! In their honor, here is a little poem about sisters:

There's no better friend than a sister -
There's no one more loyal and true . . .
and even when sisters are different . . .
their likeness come shining through!

Perhaps it's a family resemblance that strengthens the bond they share . . .
or maybe it's just that sisters live life with a similar flair!
A sister remembers your collegehood -
knows more than you will admit
of times you were Little Miss Perfect . . .
and times you gave others a fit!
She's seen you in some situations
when silence just wouldn't suffice . . .
and managed somehow to get by with those sisterly words of advice!

And when some encouragement's needed . . .
a sister will always be there . . .
to listen . . .
to laugh . . .
or to lean on . . .
to comfort,
or simply to care.

There's no one who's more in your corner . . .
and no one you're more grateful to.
There's no better friend than a sister . . .
and no better sister than you.

Karen, What a beautiful poem! I have a lot of friends, but my sister is, by far, my very best friend! All that work for a twenty minute visit from your SW! That's exactly how mine went too! Well at least your house is clean and organized! If it is anything like mine, it never stays that way!
Your sisters are just as pretty as you are!
Hugs,
:)Di

Hi Di!

I miss you! Yes, my sisters are my best friends! My youngest sister Robyn (in the middle of the photo) lives out of town so I don't get to see her as often as I'd like. Lisa and I are super-close.

Yes, it's been two days now and I can still see the floor! My plan for tomorrow is to spend 10 minutes in each room freshening up. The boys are so tired of hearing me say "Don't mess up the house!" but they've done a good job of cleaning up after themselves!

Shelby "cooked" some noodles on the stove (well, Hamburger Helper noodles!) and bless his heart, he had to clean up his mess. He told me he learned his lesson! At 10, he has permission to use the microwave but he isn't supposed to cook on the stove withoout permission!

Hopefully we will have some good news on referrals SOON! I'm so ansy I can't stand it!

Karen, I also have an older sister that lives far away, NJ, and my best friend sister(1 yr older) who is only 15 minutes away! She has helped me so much with Kaelin's room and shopping and listened to my rantings about the wait! What would we do without our sisters?!
Your boys sound like real troopers! Has Shelby ever tried Easy Mac for the Micro? It's not the best for a meal but it makes a yummy snack! My youngest son is 19 and still eats it! I'm antsy too! Where are these darned referrals!!
